Important Health Advisory for The New You Plan


The New You Plan strongly advises that you consult your doctor or health professional before starting a Very Low-Calorie Diet (VLCD).


Before Starting the Diet:


Please ensure you follow our Pre-Start Checklist to safeguard your health:


BMI of more than 25

No medical contraindications

Check-up with your doctor to get approval

Get blood pressure checked

Get regular check-ups with your doctor

You Are Not Suitable for Our Diet Plan If You Have:

An eating disorder or are taking anti-obesity drugs

Arrhythmia, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, or are on medication for heart rate irregularities

Epileptic seizures, convulsions, or are on anti-convulsant drugs

A serious heart condition, heart disease, or have suffered a heart attack

Severe psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, or are taking MAOI and Lithium drugs

Recently had a stroke or are taking anti-coagulants, antithrombotics, or fibrolytics

Total lactose intolerance

Type 1 diabetes or are taking insulin

Severe liver or kidney disease

High blood pressure (program above 1200kcal only with doctor's approval and monitoring)

Diabetes with medication

Gout (program above 1200kcal only with doctor's approval and monitoring)

Any prescribed medications (doctor's approval and monitoring required)

Suffered any serious illness, trauma, surgery, or injury within the last 3 months

Had preventative thrombosis medication in the last 6 months

Had an angina attack in the last 12 months

Are about to undergo surgery

Are pregnant, have given birth in the last 3 months (or had a miscarriage at 20+ weeks gestation)

Breastfeeding (baby's sole source of nutrition)

Children below 16 years

Over 75 years

Diabetics Type 1 or Diabetes Insipidus

Within 3 months of heart attack, operation, serious accident, or stroke

BMI below 25

Heart, kidney, or liver disease or condition

Porphyria (a rare genetic disease)

Severe depression

Anorexia or bulimia nervosa

Thrombosis or medical treatment for thrombosis within the last 6 months

An angina attack in the last 12 months

Any serious illness, injury, trauma, or surgery in the last 3 months

Hypertension

Have Type 2 diabetes (can follow the diet under the guidance of a GP)
