🍽️ Can I Eat Out for a Special Occasion While on the Total Plan?
Switch Occasion Day: A Balanced Approach to Special Events
We understand that life includes special moments — family celebrations, meals out, or holiday gatherings. While the Total Plan is designed to be followed without conventional food, you can enjoy these events mindfully by using the Switch Plan’s Occasion Day approach.
This gives you the flexibility to participate in special occasions without compromising your progress.
🔄 What Is a Switch Occasion Day?
A Switch Occasion Day is a planned and mindful break from your usual routine. It allows you to enjoy a special event while still being aware of your long-term goals.
It is not a cheat day, but rather a conscious choice to enjoy something off plan, with balance and intention.
✅ How to Make the Most of Your Occasion Day
Plan Ahead
- Know the date of your event in advance so you can prepare
- If dining out, check the menu ahead of time and choose options like lean protein, salad, or steamed vegetables
- Set an intention to enjoy the meal mindfully without overindulging
Stick to Portion Control
- Smaller portions can help you enjoy your favourites without going overboard
- Choose grilled fish, chicken, or turkey, and fill your plate with non-starchy vegetables
- Eat slowly and savour the flavours
Be Mindful with Alcohol
- If you plan to drink alcohol, we recommend increasing your calorie intake to at least 1,000 calories per day for one week before the event
- This helps reduce the impact on your body and supports better alcohol tolerance
- Stay hydrated before, during, and after drinking
Note: While occasional alcohol is manageable, we recommend avoiding it during the Total Plan for optimal weight loss results.
Enjoy Without Stress
- Be present and enjoy the moment — these events are part of life
- Building a healthy lifestyle includes finding balance and flexibility
- One occasion will not undo your progress when followed by a return to your plan
Get Back on Track the Next Day
- A gentle walk or light movement the following day can support digestion and help you feel refreshed
- Return to your usual Total Plan routine immediately after your Occasion Day
- Think of it as a short pause, not a derailment — consistency is what matters most
💡 Key Reminders
- Occasion Days are planned, not spontaneous
- They are best used sparingly — ideally one day every few weeks, if needed
- The goal is to enjoy life’s moments while building habits that support your long-term success
