Should I Measure Myself Regularly Or Just Rely On The Scales?Updated 2 months ago

Tracking your progress in multiple ways, not just by the scales, is a great idea. While scales provide a snapshot of your weight, measuring yourself regularly can give you a fuller picture of your progress.

Reasons to Measure Yourself:

Muscle vs. Fat Loss:

As you lose weight, you might be losing fat while gaining muscle, especially if you're exercising. Muscle is denser than fat, so you might not see a significant change on the scales, but your measurements (waist, hips, etc.) could still show progress.

Non-Scale Victories:

Sometimes, the number on the scale does not move as much as we would like, but other signs of progress—like how your clothes fit or how you feel—can be just as important. Regularly measuring can give you that extra boost when the scale seems stuck.

Spotting Trends:

Taking measurements (like your waist, hips, and thighs) can help you spot trends over time, even if your weight fluctuates a little. These trends give you more insight into how your body is changing.

Stay Motivated:

If you are feeling discouraged by the scale, measuring your body can help you realise that you are still progressing in other ways. It might be the motivation you need to keep going!

How Often to Measure:

You do not need to measure every day—once a week or once every two weeks is usually enough to see progress without getting too obsessed.

By combining both methods, you will have a well-rounded understanding of your progress, helping you stay motivated and informed on your journey!
