🩺 Do I Need a Doctor’s Permission to Start The New You Plan?

Before starting your journey with The New You Plan, it’s essential to prioritise your health and well-being.

We strongly recommend consulting your doctor or healthcare provider before beginning the plan, especially if you have any existing health conditions or are taking prescribed medication.

📝 5-Step Pre-Start Checklist

Before beginning The New You Plan, we recommend completing the following:

  1. BMI over 25 (at least one stone overweight)
  2. No medical contraindications (see full list below)
  3. Check-up with your doctor and receive medical approval
  4. Blood pressure check
  5. Commit to regular check-ups every 28 days while on plan

🚫 You Are Not Suitable for The New You Plan If You Have or Are:

Medical Conditions or Medications

  • An eating disorder or taking anti-obesity medication
  • Arrhythmia, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, or taking medication to treat heart rate irregularities
  • Epileptic seizures or taking anti-convulsant drugs
  • A serious heart condition, heart disease, or have suffered a heart attack
  • Severe psychiatric disorders including:
    • Bipolar disorder (manic depression)
    • Psychosis or schizophrenia
    • Taking MAOI or Lithium medications
  • Recent stroke or taking:
    • Anti-coagulants
    • Antithrombotics
    • Fibrinolytics
  • Total lactose intolerance
  • Type 1 diabetes or taking insulin
  • Severe liver or kidney disease
  • Diabetes managed with medication
  • Gout (only allowed on 1200kcal+ plan with doctor’s approval)
  • Taking any prescribed medication (requires doctor’s approval and monitoring)
  • Any serious illness, trauma, surgery, or injury in the last 3 months
  • Had preventative thrombosis medication in the last 6 months
  • Had an angina attack in the last 12 months
  • About to undergo surgery

Pregnancy & Postnatal

  • Pregnant
  • Given birth within the last 3 months
  • Miscarriage at 20+ weeks gestation
  • Breastfeeding (if the baby is solely dependent on breast milk)

Age Restrictions

  • Under 16 years of age
  • Over 75 years of age

Other Health Conditions

  • BMI under 25
  • Heart, kidney, or liver disease or condition
  • Porphyria (a rare genetic disorder)
  • Severe depression
  • Anorexia or bulimia nervosa
  • Thrombosis or on medical treatment for thrombosis in the last 6 months
  • Within 3 months of a heart attack, surgery, serious accident, or stroke
  • Hypertension (only suitable with doctor’s approval if following a plan over 1200kcal)
