🩺 Prioritise Your Health Before Starting The New You Plan

Before beginning your journey, your health and safety must come first.

Taking a few simple steps before starting ensures your transformation is not only effective — but safe, responsible and sustainable.


✅ Speak to Your Healthcare Professional First

We strongly recommend speaking to your GP or healthcare provider before starting any calorie-controlled weight loss plan.

This is especially important if you:

  • Take prescribed medication

  • Have an existing medical condition

  • Have recently been unwell or had surgery

Your doctor can:

✔ Review your medical history
✔ Assess medication interactions
✔ Advise whether a very low-calorie phase is appropriate
✔ Monitor you if needed

📝 Pre-Start Checklist

Before starting, please ensure:

✔ Your BMI is over 25 (at least one stone overweight)
✔ You have no medical contraindications (see below)
✔ You have received doctor approval if required
✔ You have checked your blood pressure
✔ You commit to reviewing your health regularly during the plan (recommended every 28 days)


🚫 Who Should Not Start Without Medical Approval

The New You Plan may not be suitable for you if any of the following apply.

If unsure — please consult your doctor first.


Medical Conditions & Medication

• Eating disorders
• Use of anti-obesity medication
• Type 1 diabetes or insulin use
• Diabetes treated with medication (requires medical supervision)
• Serious heart disease or recent heart attack
• Arrhythmia or heart rhythm disorders
• Recent stroke
• Severe liver or kidney disease
• Severe psychiatric illness
• Use of MAOI or Lithium medication
• Anti-coagulants / blood-thinning medication
• Recent thrombosis or preventative thrombosis treatment (within 6 months)
• Angina within the last 12 months
• Gout (only suitable with medical approval on 1200kcal+ plan)
• Any prescribed medication (requires doctor’s approval)
• Serious illness, trauma or surgery within the last 3 months
• Upcoming planned surgery


Pregnancy & Postnatal

• Currently pregnant
• Within 3 months of giving birth
• Breastfeeding (if baby’s sole source of nutrition)
• Miscarriage after 20+ weeks gestation (requires medical advice before starting)


Age Restrictions

• Under 16 years old
• Over 75 years old (medical approval required)


Other Health Considerations

• BMI under 25
• History of heart, kidney or liver disease
• Porphyria
• Severe depression
• Anorexia or bulimia nervosa
• Within 3 months of a heart attack, stroke or major operation
• Hypertension (only suitable on 1200kcal+ plan with medical approval)
