🍵 What Teas Can I Drink on the Total Plan?

Tea and Coffee Options on Your New You Journey

Tea and coffee can be a comforting part of your day, even while following the Total Food Replacement (TFR) Plan. Many types are compatible with your plan, and with the right choices, you can enjoy your favourite hot drinks while staying on track.


✅ Teas You Can Enjoy

The following teas are suitable while on the Total Plan:

  • Assam – Rich and bold
  • Ceylon – Bright and citrusy
  • Darjeeling – Light, aromatic, and known as the “champagne of teas”
  • English Breakfast – A timeless favourite
  • Green Tea – Antioxidant-rich; also available with mint
  • Peppermint or Spearmint – Naturally caffeine-free and soothing
  • Rooibos – Caffeine-free with a smooth, slightly sweet flavour

These teas can be enjoyed throughout the day and may count towards your water intake if no milk is added.


🚫 Teas to Avoid

The following types of tea are not compatible with the Total Plan:

  • Fruit teas
  • Floral teas

These can contain ingredients or natural sugars that may interfere with your progress, so we advise avoiding them while on plan.


🥛 Milk in Tea or Coffee

Milk can be added to your tea or coffee, but it must be within the following daily allowances:

  • 250ml skimmed milk
  • 250ml unsweetened soya milk
  • 165ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 165ml sweetened soya milk
  • 85ml full-fat milk

Please note: Drinks containing milk do not count towards your daily water intake. Be sure to continue drinking plain water or water flavoured with approved New You flavourings to meet your 2.5 to 4 litres daily hydration target.


☕ What About Coffee?

You can enjoy:

  • Black coffee
  • Decaffeinated coffee
  • Flavoured instant coffees (e.g. Beanies or Little’s), which are plan-friendly and available in a variety of flavours

These can be a great addition to your daily routine without affecting your results.
